When did you obtain the permit necessary to be able to perform?

I applied for the permit in 1995 and in my first performance, with the ministry's permit, pianist Ms. Javaheri and Tonbak player Ms. Narguess Torshizi accompanied me. I founded Khonya after that.

 
Why did you choose Khonya as the name of your group?

Born in a big family, she was the only child who had a passion for music . Her father had a good voice and often read the Holy Qur'an and religious hymns. As a child, she used to listen to radio and rehearse the songs. The zeal lasted all through her school years.

Pari Maleki started her more serious endeavors in music only after marriage. She learned classical guitar while in Britain and took lessons in traditional Iranian music under dis-tinguished musicians after returning home. Her professional career started after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
